Surrey Childhood in the Early Post-War Years

No computers, no mobile phones, and hardly any landlines. If your home had a TV, there were only one or two channels. Many families didn't have a car. The teachers at the village school were strict, and sometimes terrifying. Without central heating, winters were bitter. But there were shops in the village, and we could play in the woods and fields for hours without our parents fretting. The summers seemed to stretch for ever. This was childhood in the village of Leigh, Surrey, in the years just after WW2. And these are the tales of those years, told 70 years later, by people who are still alive to tell them - reLeighably.
